Kubernetes(K8): The Cloud Native Computing Foundation. Spending innovation tokens

The word Kubernetes came from a Greek word, which essentially means to control or drive. In a cloud-native application platform, it is the method named for running and managing workloads on containers. In 2014, tech giant Google forwarded Kubernetes as an open-source program. Before that, it was solely used and updated by them. The docker based orchestration container solution is getting more popular every year as it is one of the best solutions regarding innovation. Spending innovation token requires tons of prerequisites to be met, to fall under the best-case scenario.

Kubernetes Vs. Docker

The use case for Kubernetes grew in huge margin from 2016, as it was fully upgraded to be used in real-world applications. Kubernetes Vs. Dockers aren’t necessarily that different. Docker is a containerisation platform. On the other hand, Kubernetes is a container-based orchestration tool, which works flawlessly with similar platforms like Docker.

Isolation of containers is done solely on guest OS. Where Kubernetes can be used in the orchestration platform to manage, update, migrate and change cloud-native application properties whenever it’s necessary.

Sole benefits of Kubernetes

Kubernetes or K8s is also known as “Kube”. On Linux-based containers, Kubernetes helps migrate tons of functionalities. As these clusters are hosted on a different premise and hybrid cloud applications. A few key benefits to note on Kubernetes are:

  • Container-based deployment in a cluster.

  • Development can be scaled through Kubernetes.

  • Easy to migrate, update and push changes anytime without stopping the whole service.

  • Flexible and secure method of maintaining cloud application.

  • Debugging containers.

Fintech world support by Kubernetes

Checking around us, we can see most of us don’t go to banks for regular transitions anymore. Standing in long lines was a thing in the past for taking this kind of service. Lots of it happened because of digitalization. Services like banks and financial organisations have services that can operate on our phones and through computer browsers. The service is similar to visiting a bank and talking with staff one to one. And these applications are running continuously. As it is an emergency service, stopping it can hurt the sole purpose. Thus, Kubernetes is being implemented so that other services can run properly when maintenance is going on without taking the whole application offline. We can see small updates with our regular application but it is still working while running updates. Blocks or containers gain benefit from similar platforms like Kubernetes.

Kubernetes workflow

Details into Kubernetes mechanics can be a little overwhelming. There are tons of functionalities that need to be explained to work with a proper flow. This is why companies hire MSPs to manage similar services because it is that advanced. Borg was the successful predecessor to Kubernetes. People who studied pods and Borg at the early stage or were related to cloud computing in Google got the taste of its workflow and methods of running. Specifics are very strict and have a large curve. There is a lot of documentation for beginners and even Microsoft Azure now has cloud-native Kubernetes learning tools. This is the same reason why experts handle the task. As they are pretty familiar with it. Reference data is pushed into measurement units with outputs and error handling functionalities. With sensors and system inputs running on pods, worker or “k” nodes are allowed to perform the task in the Kubernetes system. It may be a little complicated to work with, but the fruit is very sweet.

Kubernetes architecture and specifics have a steep learning curve and this is the reason we hire MSPs-specific task managers to maintain it properly as a package. It made lives easier in the fintech industry.
